<<<<< Paul Krugman points out the obvious:

To say what should be obvious: Republicans don’t care about the deficit. They care about exploiting the deficit to pursue their goal of dismantling the social insurance system>>>>

Here it is again! Boiling the issue down to extremes in ideology. Sure, there are some extreme republicans - and too many in my opinion - that believe what Krugman says here, but if you go into budget negotiations with the mindset that Krugman has here, failure is guaranteed. Let me repeat; FAILURE is guaranteed. What Krugman fails to acknowledge is that there are many republicans out there representing good honest hard working Americans who don't want social insurance dismantled BUT they do want it fixed so that it doesn't bankrupt America. That isn't evil and it isn't even a bad thing and should be the goal of every politician.
