The reality is that evolving technologies are going to apply consistent pressure to our economy as far as you can see into the future. Longer 100 year + average life spans are coming. Technologies in the fields of manufacturing, robotics, nanosciences, and others will push the "normal" unemployment rates much higher -- probably to something approaching 50% over the next 50 years or so. So, when exactly are we going to do something about a government that insists on more spending?
