The case I made went something like this:

I started working at the mine as a day employee. When the mine went to a 24 hour operation they required us to work two weeks on each shift (days, swing, midnight to dawn) on a rotating basis. My application for unemployment complained that I had not agreed to these conditions when I was hired and that the change had caused me to suffer from sleep disturbance and irregularity. I also complained that my social life was disrupted to the point where I was becoming isolated from long term friends. I wrote quite a detailed complaint but that's all I can remember about it now.

The mine super intendant had the opportunity to contest my complaint but did not. I suspect he was happy to see me go. I was something of a reckless mountain boy at the time, and probably a bad influence to the other miners as well. You probably can't imagine me being a pain in the butt or something other than the goody two shoes I am now... Anyway I threw the biggest party on the Ranch where I lived. Those cowboys and miners had a great time saying good bye. Then packed my gear and moved to Oregon. I had mixed feelings about having played the system and having free money to live on for several months, tsk, oh well, bad me. I was certainly fit as a fiddle and able to do all kinds of work.
