Heller found that "The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia"

Before Heller, Miller had connected the right to weapons for a militia, if Heller never had happened, and we where just to go on Miller, the owner of an "assault rifle", might have more claim of 2nd amendment protection than the owners of other weapons.
