John Hull you are out there: LISTEN TO WHAT MARY SAYS, SHE IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, LOOK AT THE GREAT JOB DONE BY ANDY AT THE USUALY SEMI-ANNUAL UPDATE. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN....PERIOD.

I been with INTEL as an investor through thick and thin, the old AMD days in the court room in Santa Clara and the Cyris miffs in Austin. Unfortunately, the IR department has been almost non-existent and ANDY chooses not to carefully explain INTEL to wall street. It would seem to me that a strategy of paranoia about the misinformation that is being written each day about INTEL should be forcefully refuted ---- IF IT IS UNTRUE???????????????????????????????????????????????????

Mary, details ,details and more details. What did intel and its people do cause you think they are pathetic?

I prefer to think that in the final analysis the stock price determined by how well the company generate money not by wall street perceptions. If next year intel profit double and stock price drop 50%, I will still be happy but confused. On the contrary, stock double profit halve, I will be out intel in no time.

It is pathetic.

I tend to agree...for the past few years anyway, I feel this stock is manipulated more than any other big stock I have seen. Mgt. guidance and information is very tight-lipped and conservative and they don't seem to respond to much of the mis-information that's out there. Intel's PR could also improve, imo. As a result, anal-ysts such as Kurlak literally make a living manipulating the stock price. Microsoft is similar to Intel with respect to being conservative and tight-lipped, but their stock doesn't seem to be manipulated as much. I'm guessing they have a much higher percentage of Insider holdings than Intel???

1997 has definitely been a roller-coaster ride for Intel holders but at least we will manage a small gain for the year with all the turmoil. looking for a more consistent 1998.

Mary,
Re -- explain things to the rest of us who are not technical geniuses what Intel business is all about and what the prospects are for Intel in the near term, long term, and how it relates to the American economy going into the next century.

I think Intel does that very well. In fact I think they give out more information than the dumb analysts can handle and therin lies the problem.

Intel concentrates on its business not in pampering analysts. This can be both good and bad. However when you have a snake oil salesman like Jerry Sanders who can convince Analysts that AMD is eating Intel's lunch, youve got a double whammy.

Added to that there is that idiot Kurlack (who hasn't the slightest clue) playing the pipe.
