I repeat.......Americans allowed themselves to get duped.>> The dems were on board because what happened in the Viet Nam vote. The two who voted against teh tonkin Gluf both lost teh next election. Morse and Greuning. The dems saw it as self proservsation. Over 70% of Americans were for the Iraq war. We always like war and the military. Which is why we need people like Rachel and MSNBC to explain why we should NOT like it! <<BTW the problem in Iraq wasn't tribal, that was Libya......in Iraq, it was about religious schisms between Sunnis and Shi'ites.>> It was absolutely tribal. Iraq is primarily Shia (70%?), but Sadam was Sunnie (20%) and 10% Kurds. Iran is Shia. We threw out the Sunnie and took apart the Sunnie army and put in Shia. Then the shia started running death squads against the Sunnie. 15 million Sunnie had to leave Iraq! Now the Iraqi Sunnie are going into Syria and helping Assad with Saudie money. And Iraq, once a counter to Iran is in bed with Iran and supporting Assad. The entire ME is lining up Shia against Sunnie, or vice versa. We need our MSM to not only tell us the truth, but to educate us. Aaaaahhhhh. So that is where you are coming from! A few things: 1) Moyers and Donahue were not shaping the news. They were telling the true is all. They were the only ones who had the guts to tell the truth!!! 2) FOX lies. It is a tabloid! that is waht tabloids do. Ezra Klein and Rachel Maddow/FOX news! 3) News is multi diminsional. MSNBC has started using professors because they have rightly figured out news happens in context. The news should have explained the tribal relationship in Iraq. Or the political balance between Shia and Sunnie and Iran and Iraq! Diane Sawyer et all, presented the news like one would to 6th graders.
