To be fair, this are littoral combat ships. They aren't intended to go up against the bigger ships, more likely pirates and shore based stuff. So the survivability question isn't a huge deal. And it isn't uncommon to have problems with things like the gun at this stage. However, the helicopter is a problem. The biggest problem is there are two different classes, the Independence class as pictured and the Freedom class. Both have very similar specs and that usually means it is a contractor welfare program. Those usually don't do well.
