Pick any family tree anywhere, several of those available without any restrictions, and start counting 10-12 generations backwards from as close to our days as possible. Next check that with the time span, OK?
I do it all the time when working on our tree.

It always checks in at aro 32-33 years per generation or 3 generations per century.
That said, mine are all Europeans and we are talking about approx. AD 1600-2000.
