Could Cisco possibly make a bid for Ascend too? My understanding is that they are pretty weak in the remote access concentrator market. They would have much to fear with a souped up LU. It would then be the battle of the 800 lb gorillas.

Gary - I'm just guessing, but the LU offer seems to suggest that the market value is now at least $35. If others are interested it should go up some more. So, gap to 35? I have to admit that I've been very skeptical of a buyout. Man, was I wrong!! I've been in cash waiting for a bottom in this tech meltdown. When ASND started moving on high voume, I went in at 25 5/16. If this plays out the way it appears
it'll turn out to be my luckiest move of the year. Anyhow, wanted to thank you for all the info you've posted. Also it might be wothwhile to study the MCIC chart. They've been in a similar situation recently.

edit: anyone else have ideas on how to play this?
