"New Yorkers?" That's a pretty broad statement.

They started building there, I believe, in 2007. So the mourning peiod was a little longer. But of course it's going to take longer when you're talking about the most significant building in the biggest city in the country.

Who cares about an FU?

The bottom line is that some things take time. Yeah, in theory Obama could've eliminated the deficit in a year, but it would've involved either raising taxes significantly on the wealthy, putting hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Americans in the streets, and/or gutting the military. Each is probably worse than running a deficit for a few extra years.
