"He's far left on both of those issues. "

Bullshit. He's the most fiscally conservative president in my lifetime. It's time for you to quit spouting nonsense.

Here's another way to tell the story ... It's a quiz! I present to you the first three years in spending for three recent presidents: Barack Obama, George Bush, and Ronald Reagan. To make it a game, I've removed their names and indexed the spending increases to their first month of office. And I've replaced the dates with integers from 1-10 so you can't guess by looking at the years.

Can you guess which president is which?

President #1
President #2
President #3

The hint that solves the puzzle: They're in chronological order. It goes Reagan, Bush, Obama. Going by federal expenditures (and note these are nominal figures), it would seem that if Obama's a socialist, Ronald Reagan is Karl Marx with an ICBM.

who are these so-called "fiscal conservatives" you speak of?

you must mean the tea-bagger types who came into power in 2010 and have blocked everything the Obama administration has done to try and govern effectively for the benefit of the majority

August 2011 refusal to raise the debt ceiling, which is basically paying a debt we already owe... self-inflicted damage to the economy... way to go teabaggers!

refusing to spend money on infrastructure projects, education, healthcare, etc, which are smart long term investments... no we'll just spend more later... way to go teabaggers! more self-inflicted damage

and by god we certainly can't afford to tax billionaires to help pay for things even though the wealth disparity is at all time highs... no, instead of raising taxes lets cut social security, education, food safety, police, firefighters, teachers... way to go teabaggers! more self inflicted damage

and now we just had the brilliant sequester by the party of NO... more self-inflicted damage... congrats teabaggers, bin Laden salutes you

Libertarians/teabaggers are basically selfish self-destructive types... the i've got mine and screw the rest of you crowd

of course a lot of the Ron/Rand Paul types just hate the brown people... so that's also part of it
