<<the RSM is a hardware router>> - this should read software router. That's where the COMS advantage is - ASIC based routing is tough to engineer, and once perfected allows great price/performance that can't be touched with software based machines.

Cisco is so overpriced and low on the price/performance arena..that I was trying to recommend it to a very cisco centric customer and could not jusify the price difference even after a 40% discount from cisco which is unheard of...
