Any idea which Maui beach offers the best place to see this large swells? I will not be surfing, but would enjoy watching for an hour or so... Will be visiting in mid-Jan.

Been to Hawai four times. Twice for a month at a time. I lived one block away from V-Land on the North Shore one time. The other time I live at a friends house near Sandy's Beach. One time in a hotel at Wakaki. The last time I was a vagabond living from house to house.
Favorite spots in Hawaii: 1. V-Land 2. Sunken Ship 3. Pipe 4. Sandy's
5. Green Lantern's. Oh and the stocks at 6 cents and falling.
