Michael Ashby ASND's CFO stated that they are comfortable with $1.05 for FY97 and $1.45 for FY98.

According to the CNBC piece, Ashby is comfortable with 1.15 for 98. Anyone know which is correct?

CNBC:

Ashby added, however, that he thought at least one reason for the stock increase was that Ascend CEO Mory Ejabat said at a Deutsche Morgan Grenfell investor conference Thursday that the networking company is comfortable with analysts' consensus estimates of a fourth quarter profit of 23 cents a share and a 1998 profit of $1.15.

Michael:

The number I am seeing from the report for 1998 is $1.15 per share.

Obviously, the growth from $1.05 to $1.15 is a lot lower than the growth from $1.05 to $1.45 per share.

I have included the correction issued by Dow Jones yesterday.

CORRECTION: Ascend Backs '98 Net View $1.15 A Shr

As reported in an earlier headline, Ascend Communications Inc. (ASND) backed a consensus estimate for 1998 earnings of $1.15 a share.
