Williet: Perhaps something incorrect?

RE: Check this URL: computeresp.com
Compaq is doing something correct.

If you notice, the listing presents interesting information:

"Media: SYSTEM" and "Machine: PENTIUM"

How can that be when it's a GX? Funny they don't mention Cyrix? Would you say this is deliberately misleading? At least confusing to the non-technical person?

I see a lot of this in store point-of-purchase, newspaper ads and such. When someone buys a low cost PC because money is a BIG factor it is especially distasteful to see dealers or manufacturers clouding purchase decisions and allowing the purchaser to believe he's getting what he wants.

Am I the only one this bothers? Not right for Intel and Intel stockholders and not right for the consumer. We'll see what happens.

Williet,
Do you mean the Presario 2200 for $549 from Micro Wharehouse?
The one with the Cyrix chip? That may be a refurb but still..
I agree...Compaq is really starting to turn the screws on the sub $1000 wannabees...
Best price around here for a 2200 is $749. Probably $699 before Christmas...then the 200MMX model in Jan...and the GX notebook which will be THE blockbuster product...trust me.
