Plato called debate the highest form of human behavior. The clashing of the minds.

Debate got us to the modern world. That was the primary behavior of the ancient Greeks: "the Socratic method".

He actually had some interesting thoughts but made it impossible to talk about them. He was the messiah of "the" center who kicked off every "center" post by making fun of one or the other side of the debate. And, to top it off, extremely over generalized about his opponents--Reps devoted to facts and Dems to feelings; -;)
