No, an employer should not be allowed to discriminate. I don't when I hire. I hire whoever is best for the job, regardless of any other factor. I have hired women into industrial maintenance mechanic jobs, for example, because they were best qualified.

Case in point...do you think it was discrimination when the City of Detroit mandated that 75% of all casino jobs be delegated to African Americans? That 75% of all contractors and vendors be African-American owned? This is a case where they specified people by race that were to be hired, in effect following the same tactic you spoke of, because "Employers need to be allowed to discriminate or they won't hire."

I thought that was racist then, and I still think it was racist.
