I am not sure if we agree or not. IMO we are seeing a paradigm change in the communications business. The competition is for the whole ball of wax, not telephones, video, fax,internet access, long haul etc but for one integrated company providing all of these services over their own circuits using their own switches and internet connections to each customer with one billing. If you don't believe it look at the direction Worldcom is going. Fourth largest long distance provider in the US, has local. long distance, and internet access to the entire US and 230 countries using its own lines and equipment. They have a huge installed fiber optic backbone around the world. Cable companies are furiously trying to duplicate their efforts.
