While an SLP with particular competence in the area of apraxia may be able to make a diagnosis at that age, a very large percentage of such diagnoses are wrong. But there IS a basis for making such a diagnosis by a properly trained professional. On the other hand, how on Earth can you diagnose a gender identity problem on a child at that age, before gender differences have even begun to evolve? That's ridiculous on its face. Imagine the damage done to a child who is improperly diagnosed with a gender identity issue at that age? I don't know if they could ever recover psychologically.
