>Revising scripture requires a belief that God's word (if that is indeed what a Christian believes scripture to be) is not timeless, but that there are humans who are fully capable of adjusting and interpreting His words to coincide with their own beliefs as to what is important at any particular time in history.

Well, humans obviously did. The four Gospels do have differing accounts. King James did his own revisions.

You really think there have been no revisions along the way?

Simplicity, I don't think Christian liberals really consider their individuality to be under threat by government. They just think that big government can be a helping hand in doing the good works of God's ministry.

I personally think differently, that the charity of humans can be free to flourish when government stays out of the way. I believe this is a philosophy that the Founding Fathers believed in, and it has endured for over two centuries.

Revising scripture requires a belief that God's word (if that is indeed what a Christian believes scripture to be) is not timeless, but that there are humans who are fully capable of adjusting and interpreting His words to coincide with their own beliefs as to what is important at any particular time in history.

The scriptures were written by humans; not God.
