No, that's an observation based on liberal westerners who don't like Christianity and embrace an imaginary Buddhism that isn't much like the real thing. Lot of people don't know that Buddhism has a similar view of sexual morality to Christianity's, has multiple heavens and hells, and believes morally wrong behavior will be punished. It also believes in supernatural things for which there's no scientific evidence at all, like karma and reincarnation.
