I have a very different take on carbs, as posted here earlier, and feel that many carbs have gotten a bad rap.

I've been following a carb-centric, low-fat, low protein diet for nearly 30 years, with emphasis on low-glycemic, whole-grain carbs, and low-glycemic starches (brown rice, oatmeal, popcorn, potatoes, yams, lentles, Al dente pasta, etc.) per the scientific findings of John A. McDougall, MD. I also consume many fruits and vegetables.

I've used this diet in conjunction with a physical fitness plan that includes High-Intensity (HIT) strength training and low-intensity aerobic activity. The results of this dietary and training regime have kept me very fit, extremely muscular (5' 10", 210 lbs, 7% bodyfat) and healthy over many, many years.
