< Nothing special. A calm or black area on the sun is not terribly unusual.> Over the last few years it has been unusual = heading for the solar maximum which is supposedly now. But back in 2008 there were months with hardly any activity.

I prefer "it blinks" or maybe "it winks" theory of Follies.

Anyway, the peak seems to have peaked. Now for the decline to the solar minimum in 2018/19 and then the big chill in 2020.
