Ted,
The article that originated this thread stated very clearly that Walmart's underpaying of employees is part of the reason its experiencing so many problems with their earnings/sales performance.
I'm pretty sure Walmart execs know full well how their wages are affecting employee turnover, job satisfaction, and customer service.

You think they need some journalist to point out the "hidden costs" of "underpaying their employees"? I assure you that these execs are laughing all the way to the bank.

Now if you don't want to shop at Walmart, that's your choice. I myself don't shop there. But apparently Walmart is successful without our patronage, so who are we to suggest otherwise?

>> When was $9 per hour well above market rates? For a well managed company that should be the standard labor rate.

Says you, in a totally arbitrary statement.

While you're at it, why don't you just dictate the selling price of Gold and the stocks of DJII? Since you know what the value of everything "should" be.

>> Apparently Walmart is not well managed

Yes, they only made $17 Billion last year. The most profitable retailer in the history of the world.

Maybe you're just feeling a little silly because a dumb-assed old Arkansan made Walmart what it is today and as a result, his four family members are four of the top ten richest people in the country today?

>> BTW sales were up at Costco's, Target etc during the same quarter.

Great. And they still made 1/10th the money Walmart did and their gross margin percent is STILL under half what Walmart's is. Costco is such a "well managed" company lol.
