Penni, Penni, Penni, I'm surprised. Norton is a Latin scholar, and when he sez "possum" he means, uh, "to be able", not some dopey marsupial. Now, he was making a big metaphysical statement of some sort when he said you can't get a "possum" on a tee-shirt. He probably had a case of existential anxiety. Or something.

Re Norton: OTC ~ ("On The Contrary") (I feel a need to define this, as there are a couple of people on this thread who have confused OTC with "Over-the-counter" stocks, and really have no idea what field they're in.)

"....instead of laughing at him..." ~ I try not to laugh at him; unless I'm with him. He enjoys it. Directly at him. From Wednesday: "It's my...status in life." (!) (somebody say existential?) (add Hindi?)

"...you should appreciate the fact that you may be in the presence of a very great soul..." ~ I do, I do. Unfortunately, I can't pick what they look and sound like; which desire shows his more elevated status.

"...one who not only notices but speaks out against the daily prejudice and inequities in tee-shirt life that most of us are too callous and preoccupied to notice."
~ Bingo. Forte Norton. I (humbly, and with great respect, here, 'course) submit most of us are (even if unconsciously) trying to hone our perspectives to a central point, and Nort has a precious, and challenging, "different" one. Ones.

He "flakes" them off a central core.

"...underestimate the depth of Norton and his observations..." ~ No chance. You get to stretch out around Norton; like a fence around a quarter-section. And you hope he's still at the house when you get back. (Ya gotta get up to speed.)

I wish I had an INTC cert for each Nort I've not written down and has been lost to huemanity. Most cannot be "made up", by any but the best writer; they can't be conceived. And there are quite a few Norton's in rural Oregon. A massive black reservoir; quiet and still. Waiting for us to come out and see it.*

Gitchur hat.

And excuse me, miss penni, for using your quotations, but they mysteriously fit Norton so well.
