He certainly wasn't doing "worse". Just the tech evolution alone makes the capture of CDRs far more of a concern than it was then.

More importantly, we were in a war then. According to Obama, there is no apparent need for this information to captured at this point. The war on terror doesn't even exist.

And there is the trust factor -- everyone in his right mind knew that there is no way in hell GWB would abuse that kind of information, and it is blatantly apparent that Obama cannot be trusted. Those data could very well end up being mined for the next Democrat presidential candidate's election team.

I think Obama's lack of transparency and willingness to do anything to retain power makes every thoughtful person reconsider how much personal data they want in government's hands.
