The only question he had was whether Livingston overlaps. Any analysis on the business of Livingston comparing with Ascend?

That is not my bailiwick. Maverick could provide the best analysis. Perhaps others could pitch in as well.

At $35, LU wants (assuming the rumor is true) ASND at price/sales of 7; at $40, ASND thinks it's worth p/s of 8, which is the price LU paid Livingston according to Gary Korn. So the rumor doesn't seem to be too bizarre. Livingston is selling to low-end price-sensitive ISP's, it doesn't have a carrier-class product. I still think ASND is better off by itself because I believe sometime in the next 12 months, the volatility will send ASND to $60 and I'll more than double my money, LU,NT,CPQ,CSCO can't offer such opportunity, but I sure like to see my ASND shares converted to LU, which causes much less headache. The buyout won't be in cash, right?
