That's a good example of a small company wanting to show support for its stock.

I'd love to see insiders start buying stock. Will they???

Cymer has $125,983,000 in cash and cash equivalents. If Cymer could (don't know about the effect of the notes - material change etc..) they might release a statement saying they have elected to purchase up to 1 million shares at the market. 1 million x $20 = $20 million. 1 million x 30 = $30 million.

Cymer has 28,573,000 shares out right now.

With $1 dollar in earnings and 28,573,000 shares, you get $1.04 based on 27,573,000 shares (-1,000,000).

It would be more of a sales tool than financial. It's about perception and being able to say, "Our sales are strong, our stock is undervalued and we're taking this opportunity to take some off the table."

I view it the same as paying your sales team enough $$$ to make them happy and loyal. You could run the numbers and decide to keep all the money for yourself, but what kind of impression does that make? Need to give out those Christmas bonuses! Cymer is profitable and they don't need to execute all or any of the buyback. As long as they allow for the option. If the stock was to tank to $15, paying $15 million for 1 million shares would be an opportunity.

I really don't care if they do or not, highly doubt they will....
