For the record I would never buy a used computer, only new. They are so inexpensive these days, just get a new one with a warranty.

Well, for the record, neither would I...and for the reason you state.

I was mainly curious what you would reply, given your (I believe) status as a computer geek. So, what you're saying, is you don't have the confidence you would be able to eradicate any illegal content on the used PC.

That's rather sobering.

It adds to my concern about letting others use my PC or laptop. Or more correctly, it assuages my conscience for not allowing others to use them....

Regards,

Will

Hello SI Ron,

I have been a reader/lurker of your excellent thread for quite a few years, you're doing a great service to your readers.
I need a suggestion for getting a Laptop for our grandson who will be entering to a University this coming fall, he will be taking business courses, currently has an HP on its final legs. Looking for a PC, preferably Win 7 Pro (64bit) maybe 17" screen, some gaming, plenty of RAM. I know you favored Toshiba's, is that still your top pick?

Welcome any other or others suggestions,

Alex
