living far away from 'home' town is not easy
and
one needs to be adept at building a dependable / stable / vibrant social circle without drama

in hong kong, i see couples move in, wives busy adapting and taking care of the kids, and i see husbands surrounded by unreal but exhilarating work pace, serious money flow, and biz traveling while being served by stewardesses selected to be near perfect by regional airlines, and when in office, witnessing long black flowing hair sorts dressed to kill in silk this and unbuttoned that attire sashaying across the marble floor, i ask myself, "what can possibly go wrong? it is just a test by god. may the test be everyday, day after day until the test score is perfect"

i have a real estate fund manager friend who, after relocating from south africa, started his own london-lised real estate fund focused on macau. he is single. no reason to get married unless wishing for kids. he is buying up old colonial buildings w/i a un heritage protection zone in the midst of highrise casinos as a side line, renovating such buildings, and recruiting name-brand chefs from old europe who feel entrepreneurial, like asia girls, and wish to decamp the tyranny that is enveloping europe.

the 5-6 restaurants that have so far resulted from joint ventures are simply superb.
