John, I have some personal experiences myself about the Border patrol agents between El Paso and Las Cruces. I would agree that in general many of these folks are very corrupt and I wonder why we want to increase the size of Govt by hiring more Border Patrol folks instead of using advanced electronic surveillance and something that we are already using which is "drones" wonder why Republicans who are yelling about smaller Govt. from rooftops would want extra Border Patrol folks!!!!

With regard to your point about the fox guarding the hen house, I don't think that if a BP agent is of Mexican descent, he/she would look the other way when a illegal immigrant of his/her descent is trying to sneak in. These BP agents are looking out for themselves only.

The BEA reported the final GDP for Q1 and it's at stall speed, defined as anything below 2% almost always means we are in recession. Q4 final revision was 0.4%, also stall speed. Very ugly. Housing continues to be a bright spot keeping the economy alive. When QE tapers, what happens next? I think I might ask the local heroin addict what happens when he doesn't get his fix. That may give me some answers. I suspect wild swings in mood and periodic crashes, followed by rebounds on optimism of the next fix. Ouch.
