In the fall of 1998 Greenspan cuts rate by surprise between meetings during market hours at about 3:45pm before an options expiration. The DJIA promptly rallied 500 pts in 15 minutes and my blossoming puts options were vaporized. The only reason for such a move IMO was to let connected insiders profit from this move. I cannot believe that the markets were in such dire circumstances that the move could not have been done fifteen minutes later after the markets closed .
