My post to epicure was sloppy and for that I apologize to everyone! What I see happening is our social systems are breaking down because we are not tending to them. So instead of repairing our social systems, so we are all safer, we are resorting to fragmentation of our society into gated communities and city states, some safe and some not so safe. I want to see everyone safe and a functioning police force and criminal system making our need for barricading ourselves less necessary. That is all. I believe in basic security. I think it is prudent to lock ones door, etc. What I don't believe in is a stratified society of the have and have nots and huge numbers of our people in prison. Denmark's taxes are twice what ours are. Imagine what we could have done with 20 trillion dollars in terms of building a healthy safe middle class, education health care and local security.
