If you had ever spent any time in Florida, you'd know it is not an epithet. Assuming you are using the word 'epithet' in its demeaning form. It is on the level of calling someone of French descent in Louisiana a cajun or a coon ass. It is more than a little ridiculous to make the claim that 'cracker' is in any way on the same level as the word 'n****r'. It might have been at one time, and it might be in the future, but that time is not now.
