knight: The $1 per ton mining cost quoted is what IPM has suggested it will cost to move the dirt only. I don't think anybody has a clue about what the ultimate extraction costs are. IPM said in the spring they would be low, but that statement related to a process that is now known to be "non-commercial."

I doubt whether your $100 per ton is too acurate either, because at today's gold prices, if it cost $100/ton to extract AU, you would need .35 opt just to eke out a profit.
