>> I was a Dem in 1970.

I was, too -- but the Democrat party today does not resemble the one I supported back then.

The most striking thing to me is that Democrats today are not liberals. They're Democrats. It does not matter, one iota, what direction the party takes, these Democrats today are going to follow.

A popular Democrat can murder his wife and tejek, CJ, Al, and Bentway will still support him. And we have seen Obama stick with Bush policies in some cases that he adamantly opposed, yet these people still support him. I wouldn't have back then, and I wouldn't now.

Conservatives turned on Richard Nixon. Democrats will never, ever turn on barack obama. They may admit they don't like some of what he's done. But they'll never turn on him.

I had an argument with some idiot liberals today about Obamacare. The post that started it began with something like, "Obamacare was a horrible piece of legislation." Then, it went on to talk about how great it was.

I am also struck by the relative ignorance of today's liberals. When we were liberals I think most of the people I was around were relatively intelligent. Today, I'd hate to be a Democrat just because of the idiocy of the company it puts you in. You really have to be stupid to support some of the nonsense they've cooked up these days.

"It also reveals a lot more about people and the party who would go to these lengths to politicize something that is simply not political. "

Do you see that characteristic in the conservatives??? For example, why are climate change and oil consumption and reserves political issues......facts are facts and the science can't changed....

"I haven't changed my principles and imagined at the time, I could be a life long Democrat. If not for the stupidity and ugliness that party members display at times like this I probably would have been. "

You're deluding yourself....just look at your posts say over the last few months, see where your posting them, and review what posts your giving recs and why..... And why in the hell do you spend any time on a thread consisting of 3-4 people who do nothing except insult each other over who is a "perv" or not...it's demeaning for anyone who has common sense and who has something else to do with that time... Not only that, but you rec much of that drivel.....

"Zimmerman did what he needed to do in defending himself in a life and death struggle in order to survive a vicious attack"

You clearly aren't following the testimony but I seem to recall you don't own a TV.....There is absolutely no evidence that Zim was defending himself in a death struggle to survive......according the the medical people, his wounds were minor and can be accounted for with one punch. And he has also been caught in some large lies.....
