Quite so. Indeed, it is we humans who have defined life in various ways and nothing prevents us from defining it differently or from removing the distinction entirely. Life and non-life are both subsumed under the umbrella of energy and perhaps inserting our ridiculous egos does nothing to improve the perspective of the SUN :-) which has seen species come and go. Our species is still a tomato seed beneath ground level... Brum says there is no reason to keep babies alive unless you do it for god. He is really off the deep end...
