Now that sounds like an interesting play.. Even if tourism takes a hit, I think that Thailand and Samui would maintain it's appeal.

It's certainly a primary gateway to Koh Pangnan and Koh Tao's excellent (and cheap) diving.. (got my advanced PADI in Koh Tao a few years back)..

If anyone has a longer term investment focus, East Timor is worth looking at as well.. Awesome diving there, but critically in need of some tourism development.. And they have over $10 Billion in oil revenues sitting in trust at the moment, and receive $1 Billion more each year.. When they finally get around to figuring out how to spend that money, it's going to be a major boom..
