THE FIRST RAINBOW!

People have regrets when they realise they could have acted differently and better. After the flood, Yahweh realized he had done wrong (as omniscient beings are so wont to do!) and he invented rainbows as a sign. It was also a good time to change the properties of light so that rainbows would seem natural rather than magical!

But Yahweh did not put the rainbow there to remind people of his covenenat not to destroy them again. He put it there to remind himself in case he forgot and started planning another extinction by fire or water. Yes! He was afraid he might forget his promise and do something really nasty and evil once again!

Sorry, rewording it means keeping it out. The appeal to the Creator was vitally important. It was revealing that you'd want to censor the Declaration and forge new words and teach that forgery to children.
