To all:

Is it me??? How can anyone have confidence in this stock at this time? I've just shorted WDC because I think it will go lower, perhaps much lower. I've been wrong plenty of times before, but I just think they're in a very serious condition with the overabundance and price wars and tons of competitors. Sure their stock price has been beaten down, but that doesn't mean they're ready to climb either. I hope they will eventually come out of it but I don't see any evidence whatsoever in the near term. And of course, I am not sure long term, either. They still have that lawsuit on their hands. I don't know. I just think they're in a lot of trouble. A couple of analysts have said positive things but it's substance I am looking for and so far all this investor can see is a frightened company trying to get back in gear.

Todd, WD 6.4MB drives have been in the $270 range for at least two weeks at pricewatch.com. Quantum 6.4MB drives have held around $310 despite the fact that they have only 1/2 the cache.

My guess is that Quantum was qualified by major OEMs first, leaving WDC with insufficient buyers for its production. On the good side, in retail box sales, WDC ads still appear first in most mailorder catalogues.
