Tubes is even easier than transistors cuz ya kin feel 'em, smell 'em and see 'em workin' away. Is they warm? Is they lit up? Git out yer Volt 'O Meter or an O Scope and have at it. Gots a schematic? Even easier!

No, but I'd look in yellow pages for someone who's been around 40 years or so. I see in Electronic Musician that rockers still like the distortion from overdriven tubes better than anything else. Remember when every electronics store worth its salt had a TUBE TESTER?
