Conservatives are all about principles of living: traditional values, free enterprise system supporting a thriving social system of prosperity short of compromising an enduring moral order, taxes for efficient government but not for social engineering. For family and community values but not forced collectivism. Republican politicians are more likely to point to conservative principles but are just as likely to sacrifice whatever is needed to acquire power and keep it as Dem politicians are. It is the voting constituency who must provide the tempering edge to the politician's steel. The American Dream along with the hopes and will of the American people seems to have vanished in the past few decades. Politicians are modern day magicians. Politicians know as magicians know, at the source of their ability to win the approval of an audience is not genuine magic but some grand illusion that will manipulate their audience into an applause. Come and see ladies and gentlemen, the amazing and fantastic solution you've all been waiting for yells the modern barker (lobbyist) as they bring us into the big tent promising our satisfaction for the cost of one thin vote.
