Plutocrats who control the purse strings want it to be about social issues regarding poor rural whites. Now if these poor people only knew how much the system was fleecing them. But maybe even a bigger problem the Dems have in getting them to change sides is not racism but the fear their small town America turns into another Detroit or a run down slum infested very expensive city. These people don't want that. Heck Ted I don't want to be in a very high cost crime ridden city these days either.

Detroit happened because white Rs [except they weren't Rs but rather Dixiecrat Dems] in the South were not taking care of their black populations and providing jobs and social amenities, and blacks were forced to migrate North to look for jobs in factories. White flight was most severe in Detroit because both blacks and whites in 1950s Detroit were poorly educated. When blacks moved in, whites became scared because of their uneducated biases and fled to the suburbs. A poorly known fact..................even though the city of Detroit was getting hollowed out, the overall metro area continued to grow in population throughout the 20th century.........Detroit losses were more than made up in the suburbs.

Rs have controlled the conversation for decades, misleading the nation on so many issues. Classic example is Palin complaining that real Americans live in the small towns and in the rural areas of this country. Several years later, Palin has been discredited even in her home state. I am hoping that as Dems like Steve Benen and Rachel Maddow gain control of the narrative, America misconceptions will diminish.

One thing is clear............American cities are reinvigorating and becoming more popular places in which to live.
