I see a huge difference.

many of the sane working environments we see today are a direct result of unions, despite what folk such as clear would assert.

Public sector unions I have little use for.

As for private unions, many construction unions have abuses within them, but OTOH, the general membership would get reamed by contractors without the unions. Take the laborers Union for example. 1 out of a 100 members will be able to make it through 25 or30 years to retirement. it takes, physical strength, smarts, endurance, skill and knowledge to make it that long in a dangerous trade, busting ass 5 or 6 days a week. Far more laborers end up semi disabled , on to another job, and get virtually no benefits.
