We know, historically, that at least in the US that the absence of regulation of business had a bunch of adverse social and economic consequences.

Now can over regulation do the same? Sure, but that isn't the premise I started with here.

Yet i-node sees no problem with lobbyists, paid by corporations to install laws that favor the corporations and give them uncalled for advantages in the "free' markets.

And you both trust that if left to their own devices they will do better?
