A stable, confident, competent, and effective adult is most often the result of childhood experience rich with encouragement from significant adults who are ever present in the child's life... adults who teach and model community values, reinforced in schools and other community institutions and organizations, values which are eventually internalized by children. Children developing strong and decent character learn moral responsibility and have sound and moral behavior, the capacity for self discipline, a moral and ethical sense of the values, goals, and the processes of a free society, and standards of personal character and ideas.
