I don't think we can go any further here. You, IMHO, are convinced the welfare model (going forward) is an essential part of the safety net mix, and I think it is at the heart of the problem of generational impoverishment. It is also part of the political logjam mentality in Washington as liberal politicians can't afford to offend their welfare constituents and conservative politicians can't resist it as a "red meat" item for theirs also. So we are stuck for the present in as system that offers little benefit or hope to future welfare generations. My hope is that the problems it is causing in impoverishing people will become so great that we as nation will be forced to take a fresh look at it.
