Europe probably doesn't have the capability unless they use nukes. They don't have stealth bombers, or heavy bombers stealthy or not, they don't have large carrier forces. They do have enough fighter bombers, but they would have to stage out of some local country, and I'm not so sure they have enough refueling capability, electronic warfare aircraft, or the required stockpile of smart bombs.

koan, I read your post and then I was just sitting here trying to figure out why you weren't right.

I even went through the discussion you had with Tim F.

I think the reason we can't allow Iran to get nukes is that once they have them then they will be able to "blackmail" us and everybody else.

After they get nukes it wouldn't be an especially difficult step to develop the missile technology to deliver them HERE. The N. Koreans are close to it.

If we're going to stop nuclear proliferation then it seems we need to do it NOW.

I DEFINITELY agree with you that the Europeans need to STEP UP on this stuff TOO. While we've been spending our money on THEIR defense they've been spending their money on their OWN economies.
