We ate it with a spinach salad with avocado slices on it. Loved it. Unbidden, she told me she's glad I liked the dinner, because chicken was getting expensive. I laughed, recalling the conversation we had on this thread. So my curiosity was, as you can imagine, instantly piqued. So I asked her how much it cost. She said about $7. I asked her how much chicken did that buy and she said about 1.2 pounds of skinless, boneless chicken. Was it organic or anything special? She said no, it was the cheapest she could find on the shelf from the Target store. I asked her how much did she used to pay. She said for the longest time, she remembered it being about $3.50 for the same kind and amount of chicken. I said when was it at that price last she can remember. She said around 2009.So in 4 years, the cheapest boneless, skinless chicken you can find at Target, has doubled in price. I challenge all of you on this thread to post your own research into chicken prices. Ask your spouse or your significant other the same questions I asked. Or if you do the shopping, then try to remember what you paid 4 years ago. Let's all post our findings on this thread. And if you post your answers to me, I'll tabulate them and take an average. Periodically, I'll post the average here. I would bet that all of our experiences are similar. Inflation is already here. It has been ignored, but the 99% feel it. I first became aware of it when my mother, who lives on a very low, fixed income, called me to complain about food prices. Then it home when I started asking my wife about her experiences. So then I asked our neighbors and friends. Everyone I talked to reported same experiences. Inflation is already here and it is MUCH higher than reported by the BLS. The real world trumps bogus statistics any day.
