Nah. I don't have a money problem. However, just because people substitute does not mean inflation didn't happen. If you had to trade in your Mercedez for an old Pinto, would you say there's been no impact on your standard of living? This is why I think hedonics suppression of the inflation numbers through the theory of substitution is just plain bullshit. If we really cared about lifting everyone's standard of living, then we wouldn't play games like that. A pinto is not a mercedes. And a chicken substitute is not chicken.
